Your Windows Mixed Reality compatible PC may not have the full-sized HDMI and USB 3.0 ports needed to connect your immersive headset. If that’s the case, you’ll need an adapter. Some adapters also require the addition of a coupler to connect to your PC or the headset cable. We’ve listed the different types of available adapters and some recommendations on specific models to get you started.

If your headset was released after 2018, you don’t need an adapter and controllers pair to the headset.
Devices shipped in 2017 or earlier need an adapter for controllers. If your PC doesn’t include Bluetooth for pairing Windows Mixed Reality motion controllers, you can use an adapter like the Pluggable USB Bluetooth 4.0 Low Energy Micro Adapter.

You can use Windows Mixed Reality headsets with an external USB 3.0 hub if your PC doesn’t have enough open USB ports. The external USB 3.0 hub must be externally powered via an AC adapter to provide enough power to the headset.
